Ottery Community Theatre was founded in 1985 after a Community Play, The Ballad of Tilly Hake, produced by the Colway Theatre Trust. Our first production was The Yeomen Of The Guard and since then we've produced at least one play every year.
We've been affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association since our earliest days. We like to be different, and many of our productions have been "home -grown", written by members or other local people. These have ranged from pantos to musicals, and from one-act plays to large-scale community plays. However, we've also had a go at Shakespeare, Gilbert and Sullivan and Tony Harrison. We usually start with workshops - rather than auditions - which give us an idea of how well people work together, and are also great fun. Be prepared to be given silly things to do!
